Important Documents for Families

The documents families use most. The formal complaint procedure is on page 39 of the Family Handbook.

FLI Family Newsletters

One every month since October 2024. Check out our current newsletters for this school year below:

Parent Involvement Committee (PIC)

FLI is a family-centered school. The PIC is where families take part.

FLI would like to utilize one of its biggest assets, FLI families! We need your support with student events and overall communications between the school and home. If you want to join FLI’s PIC, please join our listserv by completing this form. When we need support/volunteers you will be the first to know!

2026–27 Intent to Return Survey

We love having your child as a student at FLI and hope you choose to return. This form informs our enrollment and budgetary planning — we want to accurately account for your child, or provide a space for another student interested in enrolling.

Please be honest and forthcoming with your responses, as this impacts our ability to offer empty seats to new students as well as our financial and academic planning for the future.

Complete this for every FLI student in your household, except 8th-grade graduates.

Public records

Reports, plans, and policies

Safety plans, audited finances, annual reports, and the school's results — every year we have, published in full.

Building-Wide Safety Plan

Please see FLI's building level plans below, which detail specific response strategies. Detailed plans show how school personnel and students respond in their building to an emergency. Details about evacuation and where students reassemble are included. Information specific to emergency communication between staff, responders, and family is provided.

NYC DOE School Quality Snapshots

2014–15, 2015–16, 2020–21 and 2021–22 are not published. Those four are missing from the school's own records, not from this transfer.

  • Parents' Bill of Rights for Data Privacy and Security

Required of every NY educational agency — charter schools explicitly included — by Education Law § 2-d and Part 121, and it must be published on the school's website. Verified 2026-08-13: absent from the live site and from all 37 captured pages, alongside the § 2-d Data Privacy and Security Policy. The six rights themselves are statutory and uniform; what cannot be drafted for the school is the named Data Protection Officer and the list of third-party contractors holding student data. School-owned — see /privacy, which covers the website only and deliberately does not stand in for this.

Board of Trustees

As a charter school, FLI is governed by a Board of Trustees. The Board hosts public meetings monthly. The FLI website will maintain the most up-to-date information on the dates and locations of Board meetings. Any individual or group (“Complainant”) may bring a complaint or concern of any kind to the Principal of FLI. The Principal or his/her designee will work to resolve conflicts fairly and informally in a reasonable time. If after reviewing and investigating the complaint, the Principal is unable to resolve the complaint to the Complainant’s satisfaction, or if the complaint is about the Principal, the Complainant may bring their complaint to the Board of Trustees of FLI in accordance with the Formal Complaint Procedure which can be found on page 39 of FLI’s Family Handbook. A written complaint to the board of trustees may be submitted directly to the Chair of the Board at fliboard@hotmail.com.
