What is a charter school?
Future Leaders Institute (FLI) is a 100% FREE Kindergarten to 8th grade, progressive family-centered charter school in Harlem. Free means free: breakfast, lunch, the afternoon snack, and the Extended Day Program are all included.
Like every charter school, FLI is a public school: available to the public, with enrollment by lottery, and governed by its own Board of Trustees.

FLI is a 100% FREE Kindergarten to 8th grade, progressive family-centered charter school in Harlem.
Free breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack available daily. School hours 8:10AM - 2:30PM (Optional Free Extended Day Program: 2:30PM - 4:45PM).
Admission decisions at FLI Charter School are based on a lottery system, which provides all students with a fair and equal opportunity for admission.
Day to day
Yellow bus service or metro cards available to eligible families.
Student uniforms are required to be worn daily (FLI supports families in need with uniforms).
FLI provides general education, ICT and SETSS classroom models.
FLI offers unique resources and student supports school-wide: small group reading intervention, ENL support, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and counseling.

Future Leaders Institute Charter School is the longest running K–8 charter school in Harlem — founded in 1999.
To add: FLI’s current charter term and next renewal date — the legacy site published neither, so they have to come from the school.
