DonorsChoose.org

Donors Choose is a non-profit organization that has given life to hundreds of thousands of projects for teachers across the nation. At FLI, teachers have worked hard to identify what their students need to enrich the work they are doing in the classroom. In the 2008-2009 school year, FLI teachers secured over $21,000 in 56 grants.

These grants have enabled teachers to greatly expand their resources in the classroom. Many have brought in technology to enhance displays in class through digital presenters and projectors. Books, laminating machines, science kits, eco-friendly paper, cameras, music, and animals for observation are only some of the amazing resources FLI teachers have received for their students.

Donors Choose plays an important role at FLI by providing teachers with outside funding for their special projects and ideas. The grants have already provided hours of learning and fun that would otherwise have been just a dream. Since the summer, FLI's teachers have received funding for 35 grants worth over $18,000. There are currently 7 projects that are pending to support new technologies, books, and key classroom materials. In addition, FLI started an initiative to reduce waste by adding a carton of recycled paper to each grant. Extraordinary generosity by the Pumpkin Foundation has enabled our teachers to receive half-funding for all proposed grants. The Foundation has already given over $8,500 in funding through 21 successful grants.
